Being a Girl BOSS. What it takes, and how to own it!

While there has been significant progress when it comes to feminism and a woman’s ability to make something of herself, women still need to fight harder than men in nearly every aspect of life, especially work. If you want to be a girl boss, it’s time to get into gear. Here are some tips on how to become a girl boss.

1. Prioritize Work

We all have a lot of things going on in our personal lives. Also, we all need time to go out with friends and let loose. However, these things can get in the way of work. If you want to be successful, you need to make work one of your main priorities. This doesn’t mean that you should ignore certain family obligations, but you do need to schedule things wisely.

2. Develop Positive Relationships

There are a number of women who led the way for women like you to follow in their footsteps. Develop relationships with some of these pioneer women. You can find them at your own workplace, or you can meet them at different networking events in your areas specifically aimed toward women.

Of course, you shouldn’t avoid developing relationships with men, too. Mentors come in all shapes and sizes, and you may have a male boss who takes you under their wing. Of course, all business relationships should remain professional at all times.

3. Create a Productive Work Space

You need to work in an area conducive to getting things done. Start with a comfortable desk, chair, and climate. Next, you want to get some cool office desk accessories. Look for pretty stationery and pens for women at a stationery store online. The stationery and nice pens can help make you look more professional, and clients will enjoy receiving correspondence from you. Setting up pictures and decorations will go one step further to making the area feel comfortable and homey.

4. Focus on Your Health

You cannot take on the world if you are stuck at homesick. That means you need to take care of your health. You need to be sure to practice good hygiene, especially these days. Wash your hands regularly and disinfect surface areas. You also need to make a point to eat well and exercise. The things you put in your mouth make a big difference in how well your body can fight disease. Eat things with a lot of antioxidants and nutrients in them, such as fresh fruit, vegetables, lean protein, lean dairy, and whole grains. Try to eat small meals throughout the day instead of two or three large meals. You also need to get yourself to the gym. Exercise promotes heart health, healthy weight, and increased energy.

5. Practice Self Care

You need to be emotionally and mentally healthy as well as physically healthy. This means you need to practice self care. Self care involves things like seeing a therapist, cooking for yourself and your family, reading positive affirmations out loud, and going to the spa. Some women think they just don’t have time for self care, but it doesn’t need to be that time-consuming. Wake up ten minutes earlier or take five minutes out of your work day to meditate.

6. Look at Failure as a Lesson

When you are a girl boss, you need to shoot for the stars. Every now and then, you aren’t going to make it all the way to your destination. That’s okay. You will be successful since you were brave enough to try something difficult in the first place. If you don’t succeed at first, continue to try. On your next try, be sure to apply some of the lessons you learned during your failures to prevent them from happening again. You will get it right eventually.

7. Learn Everything You Can

It’s important to stay knowledgeable about your industry. If you already went to school, consider getting a higher education. You can also take seminars about how to be a better boss and leader. Finally, always read up on your industry so that you know the newest current events and tolls that can help you. You can use this knowledge to boost your business and strike up a conversation at networking events.

A girl boss is someone who knows how to take charge and take control of her life and her business. No matter what your industry is, these are some ways to ensure that you set yourself up for success.
